Police in Kisumu have arrested a man named Adam Rajab, who was caught with 750 identification cards in Kibos. These IDs are believed to have been obtained from the Huduma Centre, and investigators think that some officials at the centre, along with employees from Safaricom in Kisumu, helped him get them.
According to police reports, Adam used these fake IDs to register mobile phone lines. He then used these lines to scam people in Kenya.
During questioning by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Adam’s mother revealed that her son had used the IDs for scamming purposes.
The police commander in Kisumu has labeled Adam as the main suspect in this case. They have collected several items related to the fraud from him, which will be used as evidence. Adam is currently in custody and is expected to be brought to court soon to face charges.
This situation raises serious concerns about how secure the ID issuing process is at the Huduma Centre.
Many people are worried about the role of the employees who may have aided Adam in obtaining these IDs. The police are investigating further to find out how widespread this operation is and whether there are other people involved.
Authorities are taking this matter very seriously, as identity theft and fraud are major issues in Kenya. The police have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities, especially those involving fake identification or scams. They want to ensure that Kenyans are protected from such criminal activities.
As this investigation continues, police are committed to uncovering the truth and bringing anyone involved in the scheme to justice.
