Lately, cases of women abandoning their families have been on the rise in many parts of Kenya. The most recent incident happened in Shanzu, in Mombasa County.
Credible reports indicate a woman who lived with her husband has left her children and returned to her former husband, admitting that she made a mistake by leaving him because of poverty. This woman was married to her current husband ten years ago, and they have two children who are over five years old.
Recently, she met her former husband driving a luxury car, and after investigation, she discovered that he was wealthy and unmarried. That’s when she chose to return to her former husband, who accepted her, leaving behind her children and their father.
However, her friends have blamed her for what they call greed for wealth, telling her that she is using men wrongly to the extent of leaving her children just because her former husband has become rich, whereas she left him because of poverty.
These statements came after the woman’s decision to return to her former husband, expressing regret for leaving him earlier because of poverty. Her decision has sparked a heated debate among her friends and community, with some criticising her for her decision.
