A Bodahoda operator reported missing in Kumi District last month was murder with his body found buried in the swamp along Kumi-Pallisa road.

The deceased David Ochom, 18, a Omodoi cell local, Mukongoro Town Council, Kanyum County prior to his death ferried by unknown men on February 22, 2023, and had never been seen again.

This caused uproar among his relatives and colleagues who began hunting him but in vain. They later filed the case to the police station.

According to police preliminary probes, the people who he was last seen with were robbers whose motive was to steal his motorbike.

“They stole his motorbike registration number plate UFU 213F and the killing is suspected to have happened after he defended himself from the thugs. His body which was found with deep wounds on the head was later interred by the roadside,” the East Kyoga regional police spokesperson, SP Ageca Oscar Gregg, said Wednesday.

He said Ochom’s body was found on Tuesday by the locals who had launched a trace for him. It was transferred Atutur hospital morgue for autopsy before it was later given to the relatives for burial.

“The motorbike is still missing. Suspects are still at large, but using intelligence we are on their trace,” SP Ageca said, commending the locals for their vigilance and volunteering information.
