Lydia Kathure, a woman from Meru County, has turned her family’s life around by building a beautiful five-bedroom house. Lydia’s journey started in a place of great struggle.
Growing up, her family faced severe poverty, and many people made fun of them, even giving her father a cruel nickname that reflected their situation.
When Lydia was still a child, her father passed away, leaving her mother to raise five children on her own.
It was a tough time for the family, and they faced many challenges together.
Lydia’s mother worked hard to ensure that her children could go to school and get an education despite their difficult circumstances.
Determined to change her family’s situation, Lydia focused on her studies and finished high school.
After graduating, she found a job at a local factory, which allowed her to start earning some money.
Lydia then decided to further her education at the Kenya Institute of Management, studying for a diploma in business management.
After completing her studies, Lydia moved to Nairobi, hoping for better job opportunities. However, finding work was not easy.
To support herself, she initially sold charcoal, which helped her make ends meet.
Eventually, Lydia discovered her passion for the import business, which changed her financial situation for the better.
With her newfound success, Lydia remembered her mother’s sacrifices and knew she wanted to do something special for her.
In 2021, she began building a lovely bungalow for her mother in their village.
Lydia wanted her mom to enjoy a comfortable life after years of hard work and struggles.
Just a year after that, she continued her success by starting to build rental properties in Kitengela, becoming a landlady.
Lydia has shared her inspiring story, encouraging others to persist through hard times.
She emphasized the importance of hard work and determination, stating, “Don’t give up, keep pushing, and your day will come.”
