Beloved Mbaitu FM journalist Mercy Mawia passed away following a medical fight that also required surgery.

James Mwangi, her spouse, said TUKO.co.ke that the family has begun planning for her memorial service, which would take place at AIC Milimani.

The burial date of Mbaitu FM anchor Mercy Mwaia, who passed away, would be held in Nyahururu, according to her husband James Mwangi.

Mawia passed away with her spouse by her side following a fight with illness that required surgery in the hospital.

Mwangi stated in a TUKO.co.ke interview that Mawia endured discomfort in order to keep the fire going till the very end. From then on, Mawia’s funeral plans have been initiated by the family.

“We meet every day in Norwich House, room 3, on the seventh floor. At AIC Milimani on Wednesday, July 31, we will celebrate a requiem mass,” Mwangi stated. “Mawia’s burial will be in Nyahururu on either August 2nd or August 3, yet to be confirmed,” he said.

When news first surfaced on various social media sites that the late broadcaster would be cremated, Mwangi responded, saying, “There are made-up stories doing the rounds on social media about Mawia’s last wishes.”

The distraught Mwangi posted on his Facebook page, “It is quite rude and cruel for people to clout pursuit without taking the feelings of the impacted family into consideration.

“We need some privacy while we work through these difficult times. In the days to come, the family will use official channels to keep her friends and supporters informed about the burial plans. During this trying time, we appreciate your prayers and unwavering support,” he continued.
