Meet The Son Of A Prominent Kenyan Politician Who Dresses Like A Woman And Why

Anyang Nyong’o was born in Ratta, Kisumu, Kenya.He completed his undergraduate studies at Uganda’s Makerere University, where he was awarded a first class honours degree in political science. He Served as Guild president of Makerere in 1969/70. He thereafter proceeded to his graduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Chicago, where he obtained an MA and a PhD in political science in 1977.

Anyang’ and Dorothy raised a big family and welcomed five children into their lives — four girls and one boy. Their eldest, Zawadi, is a yoga practitioner and meditation specialist who founded her own African yoga-inspired social enterprise in Kenya, ZeroByZawadi. Lupita is the second eldest of the bunch, and she is followed by her younger sisters, Fiona and Esperanza, and younger brother, Peter Junior, who is also an actor.

Back in 2014, Peter Junior, who professionally goes by Junior, went viral for being a part of Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie that saw him smiling next to Bradley Cooper while Lupita was peeking behind him. In an interview with DeGeneres following the Academy Awards, Lupita opened up about her brother’s viral moment. “He lives life in an exclamation point, and he just saw that opportunity and he was like ‘I’m getting in, this is my only chance!’ ” she said.

Back then his photos met different reactions when he was seen in red lipstick, a heel and a red thong.

The photo-shoot concept was dubbed, ‘What if Adam was Eve?’ Photographer Lyra Aoko tried merging Adam and Eve into one person. In her response to Kenyans seeking explanations about the concept, she said the photo-shoot was meant to create visuals challenging stereotypes related to gender clothing.

More recently, though, Nyong’o made sartorial waves this month when he wore a floaty red maxidress to a music festival in Nairobi, matching his girlfriend Wanja Wohoro, a singer from Sydney and Nairobi. His nearly 30,000 Instagram followers’ thoughts on the look were mixed, to say the least, with some making queries like “is he gay?” and “is that lupita or u just borrowed her dress?”. (Nyong’o later responded to one such query, “Bro what’s up with the dress,” on his Instagram Stories: “There is no thought process my G. If a piece of clothing looks good it looks good.”

He also continued to stand by the look on Twitter, where he goes by “Flower Boy,” before concluding with an Ariana Grande reference.

Unsurprisingly for someone who’s cited Ezra Miller, who recently made his way down a red carpet in a gown-slash-puffer coat, as his style icon, this isn’t the first time Nyong’o has attracted attention for his fashion choices. The kanga head wrap and septum piercing he showed off while accompanying his sister on the red carpet of several Star Wars premieres late last year also weren’t met with too kindly.

At Stetson University in Florida, the US, Junior Nyong’o received his diploma. He is a performer who has received the Majorie Foster Gilbert Award for Outstanding Student Performer, like Lupita. He enjoys reading, watching TV shows and movies, and playing soccer.Additionally, Junior Nyong’o is a married man.He is married to one beautiful lady, Wanja Wahoro.
