His name is John Marete. He was born and raised in Meru county. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media and Film Production from Kenyatta university. After graduating, he was lucky to be employed by Royal Media Services as a cameraman at Citizen TV. Unfortunately, he lost the job when he was fired with other journalists in 2016.
Losing his job didn’t deter Marete from continuing with his passion and zeal he had in the media industry. He came up with the idea that instead of being employed, he opted to start his own television channel. The go-getter didn’t hesitate and in December 2016, he established Weru TV that is broadcasted in Meru language and promotes culture of people in Mt.Kenya region.
In June 2017, he founded Weru FM and in April 2021, he established Mutongoi TV situated in Machakos that is broadcasted in Kamba language .Moreover, he came up with Mutongoi FM that gave birth to Musyi and Syokimau radio stations in December 2021. Congratulations to him.
