Lucy Maina is one of the fastest-rising actresses in Kenya. She has gained popularity for her role in the local Citizen TV soap opera Becky, where she is the lead character in becky citizen tv.In the show, she acts as Becky, a young mother who lives in the urban slums and is separated from her high school lover, Junior (Andrew Levi), who hails from a wealthy background. The duo reunited at Junior’s home after Becky secured a job there as a house helper.
At secondary school, she discovered her passion for drama and acting talent.She was a Gathirimu Girls Drama Club member and acted as a tree. That’s how she fell in love with performing arts. Becky learnt from established actresses like Jackie Matubia, who also studied in the same school. After high school, the youthful actress pursued a course in travel and tourism but realised acting was her true calling.
She auditioned for Auntie Boss but unfortunately failed to secure a role. However, she was determined and landed a minor role as a cousin to one of the main actors. Maina was lucky to bag a leading role in Becky after auditions.
