Amina Hersi Moghe’s journey from Bungoma to becoming a prominent figure in Uganda’s real estate industry is a testament to her vision and determination. When she relocated to Kampala, Uganda, little did she know that she would eventually be recognized for playing a crucial role in reshaping the nation’s skyline.

Amina’s early aspirations were rooted in the family hardware business, following in her father’s footsteps. However, tragedy struck at the age of 9 when her father passed away. This loss fueled her dreams, and she began envisioning a future where she could make a mark in the real estate sector.

Amina Hersi Moghe has not only realized her dreams but has also inked a deal with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for the construction of a high-rise building valued at Ksh7.5 billion.

Her entry into real estate was a strategic move aligned with her family’s traditions, given their involvement in the hardware business. The turning point came in 2007 when the Ugandan government allocated her four acres of land on Yusuf Lule Road, near Garden City in Kampala, during preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

During an interview, Amina recounted her eagerness for challenges and the government’s drive to enhance infrastructure and accommodation in Kampala at the time. This led to the acquisition of land for Laburnum Courts Luxury Apartments, consisting of 164 high-end units.

A pivotal moment came when she wrote a proposal to President Museveni, expressing her intent to acquire another plot on Nakasero Road. The president, impressed by her idea and determination, asked a crucial question: Did she have the funds for the project? A confident “yes” from Amina marked the beginning of a transformative journey.

The Laburnum Courts Luxury Apartments deal paved the way for Amina Hersi Moghe to construct the iconic Oasis Mall in the heart of Kampala. Her innovative approach, offering luxurious serviced apartment units with a range of amenities, garnered attention from corporate companies, embassies, and clients.

Beyond Laburnum Courts and Oasis Mall, Amina is recognized for her contributions to Rabo Enterprises Limited and Kingstone Enterprises Limited buildings, solidifying her status as a visionary reshaping Kampala’s skyline.
