Jacquey Nyaminde, popularly known as Wilbroda from the iconic television show Papa Shirandula, remains one of Kenya’s most recognizable entertainers years after the show came to an end.

For more than a decade, she graced screens as the witty and relatable wife to Papa, a role that cemented her place in the country’s entertainment history.

Yet, beyond the sitcom character, her personal life and professional journey reveal a woman who has grown into a multifaceted media personality, advocate, and devoted mother.

Much speculation has often surrounded her relationship status, with many assuming she was married.

In reality, Wilbroda has spoken candidly about raising her son, Xolani, with his father, Francis Ngira, a SuperSport cameraman.

Their relationship did not lead to marriage, and in interviews she has admitted that co-parenting has been challenging.

She has described moments of strain, including disagreements and the emotional toll of balancing personal feelings with shared parenting responsibilities.

Still, she has acknowledged that her son’s father remains involved in his life and has stressed the importance of keeping the child at the center of all decisions.

Wilbroda has also been refreshingly honest about the mistakes she made during the relationship, including hosting too many friends at home, which she believes contributed to tension.

Over time, her openness has resonated with many single parents who see their own struggles reflected in her story.

When Papa Shirandula ended following the death of its lead actor Charles Bukeko in 2020, Wilbroda redirected her energy toward radio and digital content.

Having previously worked at Radio Citizen alongside Inspekta Mwala and Francis Luchivya, she later transitioned to Milele FM, where she continues to co-host the morning show with Luchivya.

Her on-air presence has made her a household voice, with humor and relatable discussions that appeal to a broad audience.

At the same time, she has embraced the digital age by creating short skits, collaborating with fellow comedians like Jacky Vike (Awinja), and engaging with fans on social media platforms where her content enjoys wide circulation.

Beyond comedy and entertainment, Wilbroda has taken on a more purposeful role as an advocate.

She has served as an ambassador for the White Ribbon Alliance under AMREF, championing safe motherhood and maternal health.

This advocacy work has given her influence beyond the stage and microphone, reinforcing her as a public figure who uses her platform for social impact.

She has also been vocal about issues such as age shaming, the pressure on women to marry, and the realities of parenting in modern Kenya.
