Accidents on the Kenyan highways have been on the rise in the recent past with the government urging motorists to always be careful to avoid such scenes.

Many Kenyans have lost their lives as a result of the accidents which have been caused by recklessness as well as non compliance to traffic rules on the roads.

The data from the National Transport and Safety Authority puts the number of those that have lost their lives on the roads since January at slightly over 1500.

This morning, according to the available reliable reports that we have with us from the Thika Superhighway, there has been a nasty accident between a Matatu full of passengers and a bodaboda.

The Matatu is said to have collided head on with the bodaboda a few moments ago leaving the bodaboda dead on the scene of the accident.

The body of the bodaboda operator is still lying at the scene of the accident this morning along the busy Thika Superhighway after the accident that happened moments ago.

The injured in the Matatu have however been rushed to the hospital after the collision that happened between Safari Park Hotel and Quivers Lounge.

The cause of the nasty accident between the two is still unclear as bystanders await the presence of the National Police Service officers at the scene.

Motorists plying the road have been advised to be patient as there is a traffic jam on the Thika Superhighway this morning as a result of the accident.
