Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has criticized the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government over alleged police brutality during the recently held anti-government protests.

Speaking in Bondo, Siaya County on Friday during a requiem mass of police brutality victims, Karua argued that President Ruto was using police to push the Azimio in to recognizing him as the Head of State.

In her remarks, Karua said the opposition will only recognize Ruto as the president if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) 2022 election servers are opened, and it is confirmed that he won the election.

“We want to tell William Ruto and the others who are in positions illegitimately, that we will not be intimidated. I have realized that Ruto is using force to push people in to recognizing him, I want to tell him today that we will recognize you if the servers are opened and we find out that you won,” said Karua as the residents broke in to cheers.

“As Azimio, we know that Raila Odinga was elected as the people’s president. Ruto who is in office illegitimately took an oath to protect the lives of Kenyans but his government is now doing the opposite,” argued Karua.

Few days ago, the Azimio Dialogue Team leader Kalonzo Musyoka also said he was not going to recognize Ruto as the president until their issue set for talks with Kenya Kwanza, audit of 2022 election servers, is granted and the results confirm that Ruto won.

Some leaders in the opposition however argue that the 2022 polls is done and dusted and the legal process followed to have Ruto in office, with the Azimio chairman, former President Uhuru Kenyatta recognizing Ruto’s victory as the will of the people.
