Journalist Jacque Maribe has spoken after Justice Grace Nzioka acquitted her in the businesswoman Monica Kimani murder case, on Friday.

Maribe while speaking to the press outside the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi said she did not have much to say.

She, however, referred the public to the Bible, urging them to go read the book of John 8:32.

“I don’t need to say anything but I’ll say go read John 8:32. For you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Thank you,” Maribe said.

The former Citizen TV journalist has been in and out of the corridors of justice for the past five years.

In the case, she was the second accused alongside Jowie Irungu as the first accused in the gruesome murder of Monica Kimani.

Monica’s body was found at her Lamuria Gardens Apartment which is located on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road in Kilimani.

Maribe was, however, acquitted on Friday over lack of evidence.

In her ruling, Justice Nzioka said the charge brought against Maribe was not properly placed.

“It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not the proper charge,” she said.

“The result is that the prosecution did not adduce enough evidence for this court to find the second accused person guilty of the offence of murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani on the night of September 19, 2018.”

Jowie and Jacque Maribe have been on trial since 2018, with the prosecution having called 35 witnesses.

The defence did not call any witnesses.

Justice Nzioka also found Jowie guilty of the murder of Monica Kimani.
