A man who was arrested causing a scene at Parliament buildings claiming to be the late Mwai Kibaki’s grandson is speaking up about the incident.
The man claimed that he was a distant grandson of the late Mwai Kibaki, and was devastated by the news of his death.
•”Why have you gone too soon,” he said, amid tears.
The man went ahead to remove some of his clothing, protesting that he be allowed to view the body of his ‘grandfather’, who introduced the free primary education in Kenya.
“He is my president, he gave me free education, give me time and opportunity to view his body,” he said.
Police officers later escorted the man away from the Parliament Buildings after efforts to calm him down were unfruitful.
The man was interviewed by Standard on Friday April 29 at Nyayo Stadium and said
‘jioni waknipeleka central nikakaa uko the next day they took me to city hall lakini sikuona makosa yangu so hata file yangu haikukuwa na kwwa ile harakati waliuliza nafanya wapi kazi nikasema sina kazi lakini nilikuwa na jazi kidogo inashikilia nikipata pesa nalipa rent sasa jana walivyo niachilia wakaniambia nikaenda kazi wakasema sasa wewe unakazi na ukenda kusema huna jkazi kwasababu hii kazi haikusidii enda tuu. sasa maze saa huu sina kazi nazunguka tuu kama unaeza nisaidie tu at least mtu anaweza volunteer tu anisaidie na kazi tu tagadhali naomba tu’
He added that up to now he has not been allowed to view the body, and intends to travel to Othaya for the final rite
