A 23-year-old man beat police officer to death for confiscating his mobile phone by force along Ngong road, Nairobi County.Witnesses accounts revealed that the man punched the deceased multiple times before kicking him on his abdomen.
The officer later sprawled several times and later died on the spot.
It is reported that the suspect was speaking loudly in mother tongue as the officer was controlling traffic before the unfortunate happened.
Police said the latest report comes only a day when a police mistakenly shot dead a motorist along Juja Road.
The incident sparked protests among the members of the public as they accused the officer of using force while in the line of duty.
It took the intervention of three police officers to respond immediately and contain the situation.
It was reported that the suspect was heading towards Nairobi Central Business District aboard motorbike, when the deceased confiscated his mobile phone.
The two struggled for few minutes with the deceased accusing the suspect of disrupting the public peace ,and a fight ensued between them. The suspect overpowered the officer in the process.
The body of the deceased was transferred to city mortuary as police launched a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large.
