Raila Odinga’s failure to win a seat on the African Union Commission (AUC) could have dire ramifications for President William Ruto, according to Senator Dan Maanzo of Makueni, who made this statement on a live broadcast on Citizen TV on Thursday.

The senator suggested that Raila Odinga should have been elected to the AUC before President Ruto began his four-day visit to the region on Wednesday, the day after he formally declared her candidature at the State House.

However, considering that the people in the area will be depending on the former prime minister to win by any means, despite serious opposition from three well-known African politiciansā€”from Djibouti, Madagascar, and Mauritiusā€”the senator questioned whether this was wise.

who have formally announced their intentions to run for the African Union leadership. “President Ruto has quickly rushed to Nyanza but will be in a lot of trouble if Raila doesnā€™t get the bid” , Maanzo stated.

Thus far, Raila Odinga has received the support of Presidents Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, and Salva Kiir of South Sudan. Raila has received the backing of three nations: Burundi, Rwanda, and Nigeria. Chad’s Moussa Faki is set to leave office early in the new year, and Raila is fighting for his seat.
