Raila Odinga has exited Kenya’s political stage aged 79 years. The longest serving Kenya’s Opposition leader announced his intention to go for the AU Commission Chairmanship.
This move by Raila Odinga is likely to cause a political storm in Nyanza region as he leaves a gap that needs to be filled.
It is hard to tell who will succeed Raila Odinga as the region’s kingpin. However Dennis Itumbi, a digital Strategist, opined that young leaders such as Babu Owino, PS Raymond Omollo, Robert Alai and Oduor Eric should move with speed to claim their positions.
“”The generational political take over begins in Luo Nyanza. May the youthful people of Nyanza led by Raymond Omollo, Hon @ David Ochieng, Hon Babu Owino, Robert Alai and my friend Oduor Eric among others succeed in claiming their positions without delay.” Dennis Itumbi’s message reads
Dennis Itumbi wished Raila Odinga well in his ambition to be next AU Chairman. He said Kenya supports him and it’s almost clear that Raila Odinga alias Baba may get the top AU position considering that former Nigerian President H.E Obasanjo who is one of the African Union’s panel of eminent persons visited him at his Karen residence today.
