Kenya Varsity awards has released a list of top 100 most influential university students in Kenya.
Anthony Manyara from UoN was the most influential student followed by athlete Ferdinand Omanyala and content creator Azziad Nasenya.
Other seven students in the top ten category are Rue Baby, Shaq the Yungin, Crazy Kennar, Yasmeen Saidi (Maria), Thee Pluto, Kibanja and Rachel Tabitha.
The nominees range from student leaders, comedians, actors, influencers and activists.
The awards for the year 2021/2022 were based on social reach, impact on fellow students, positive impact on the community, and influence of student opinion.
They should also have been innovative, captured the attention of students, and academic strides achieved.
Below are profiles of the top three influential students
Anthony Manyara
Manyara is the current chairman of the Kenya University Students Organization. He also serves as the EAC and Kenyan Representative to the Commonwealth Youth Council. A graduate architect from UoN and currently pursuing Law. He previously served as the president of the University of Nairobi Students Association in 2018-2029.
Azziad Nasenya
Nasenya,22 is an online content creator who became an internet sensation after taking part in the ‘Utawezana’ challenge. She is currently a student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication where she is pursuing mass media. Today Nasenya is the global ambassador for Save our Future and has been part of the telenovela Selina.
Ferdinand Omanyala
Omanayala is a known Kenyan sprinter from UoN who specializes in 100m and 200m races. He is currently the African record holder and 8th fastest man of all time in the 100m after clocking 9.77 in September,18 in Nairobi.
