The Kenya Meteorological Department has made a new forecast of the expected rains and they have confirmed that the early prediction of heavy rains across the country still stands. The department has listed some of the regions expected to be affected by the heavy rains which have already started to fall in some parts of the country.

Areas of heavy rains will be as follows;

Mandera County, Marsabit, Meru, Samburu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi and some parts of the lake region. These places are expected to receive over 70mm of rainfall this season. Wajir, Kakamega, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Nakuru, Kisumu and Siaya will receive moderate to high rainfall. Parts along the coast will receive moderate amounts of rainfall with high temperatures during the day. (Refer to the map below for more information on the rainfall distribution).

The MET department has revealed that parts of Northern Kenya like Marsabit and Isiolo have already received heavy rainfall today. This trend shall continue to the other parts of the country. People have been warned to avoid flooded areas to be safe. Follow the page for more news updates daily.
