Kibet Bull, a talented cartoonist known for his satirical work, has opened up about a life-changing setback.
He lost a scholarship to study Agricultural Engineering in Israel after being abducted late last year.
The scholarship was a dream come true for him, offering a chance to learn and grow in his career. However, the abduction changed everything.
“Lost the Israel Internship. Life is no longer worth it,” Kibet shared on social media, expressing his heartbreak.
His mother, Caroline Mutai, had borrowed KSh 100,000 for his air ticket, believing this opportunity would transform his life.
“He told me to find the money for the ticket, and I did everything I could.
I borrowed it, even though I had to repay with interest,” she explained in an interview. Unfortunately, Kibet disappeared just three days before he was scheduled to leave for Israel.
Caroline and the rest of the family went through a terrifying period of uncertainty.
When Kibet was eventually found alive, they were relieved, but the damage had already been done.
The missed opportunity left him questioning his future and feeling deeply scarred by the experience.
“What else can I do now? Everything was planned, and now it’s gone. I feel lost,” Kibet reportedly told friends.
This incident highlights the emotional and financial toll such situations can have on families.
Caroline is now left with a heavy debt, and Kibet’s promising future has been derailed.
Despite the ordeal, Kibet’s family hopes he can recover and rebuild his life.
“We are thankful he is alive, but we don’t know how to move forward from here,” Caroline said.
“Life can change in an instant. We must keep trying, even when it feels impossible,” Caroline added.
The family now looks to the future, hoping for better days ahead, while Kibet continues to deal with the emotional scars of his experience.
