During an event on Wednesday, September 13, the lawmaker asked the residents to bear more children to increase their population.

Githuku explained that per the current module, counties were receiving development funds according to their population.

Comparing Lamu to Kiambu, Githuku said the coastal county would receive the same amount as a single Kiambu ward.

“County funds, as we speak, will be distributed based on population. I agreed with you, and I see you are still letting me down. We said, and I spoke to the youth, saying that I’ve allowed you to bear as many children as you want.
Give birth to as many children because if we don’t, we will be given little money. The governor is here, and you’ll find the governor will say that the allocation of county funds is small because they consider population. When they look at the population, Lamu County is 150,000, which is probably equivalent to one ward in Kiambu; we receive less money. So I told them, let’s continue to multiply, let’s have more children,” Githuku said.

How will the children be fed?
The legislator told the youths not to worry about the children’s upkeep, pledging to provide them with porridge, rice and beans once they join nursery school.

Githuku further claimed that he always gives any expectant mother KSh 500, asking them to meet after the meeting.

‘When you have a child, you take them to nursery, they’ll have porridge at six, then they’ll be given rice and beans, and I’ve brought this. When I leave here, see me behind the tent. I always have your KSh 500. I usually give it to every expectant mother,” the lawmaker added.
Returning to parents house after giving birth to triplets
Elsewhere, a Nairobi woman abandoned by her lover returned to her parents’ home after delivering triplets.

It was not until the delivery day that Bilha Wanjiku Njuguna found out she would deliver triplets, not twins.

Her lover had long abandoned her after she fell pregnant, leaving the mother of four with a heavy burden.
