Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi has openly criticized Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu for allegedly misguiding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, which he claims has led to the DP’s current political challenges.

During a public address, Wamumbi, a staunch supporter of Gachagua, expressed disappointment over what he termed as chest-thumping and poor advice given to the Deputy President. “You mislead our son with chest-thumping, and then you tell him to apologize? Why are you humiliating him?” he lamented, reflecting growing dissatisfaction among some of Gachagua’s supporters.

Wamumbi accused the two leaders of contributing to the Deputy President’s embarrassment and stated that the people of Mathira would not forgive them. He emphasized that Governor Mutahi and Wambugu had failed to provide sound guidance to Gachagua during a period of political turbulence.

The MP’s remarks highlight emerging divisions within the local leadership, potentially signaling a broader rift among Gachagua’s allies. As political dynamics shift in the region, it remains to be seen how these tensions will affect the Deputy President’s standing in Mathira and the wider Central Kenya region.
