The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a statement on final grade 9 exams. In their statement, KNEC has warned the public about a fake circular that has been doing rounds on social media. The circular claimed that the final Grade 9 exams would be held between October and November 2025, with detailed information about a pilot test conducted in 235 schools.

KNEC quickly clarified that the information was false and asked everyone to ignore the post. KNEC issued a statement saying that the circular was not from them and reminded people to only trust updates from their official channels. They also advised Kenyans to rely on announcements from the Ministry of Education to avoid confusion caused by such misleading posts.

Currently, KNEC has not yet set the official dates for the final Grade 9 exams. However, they have provided sample papers for students to use for practice. These papers cover subjects like English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.

The sample papers are available on the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal, and KNEC encourages students and teachers to use them to prepare for the upcoming exams. In addition to the sample papers, KNEC is gathering information about the interests of Grade 9 students to help guide their education as they move to Junior Secondary.

This is part of KNEC’s effort to understand the students better and provide support as they continue with their studies. As a result, KNEC is urging the public to stay cautious and rely only on information shared through official sources.

It is important to avoid rumors that could cause unnecessary confusion, especially as students prepare for their exams. KNEC promises to announce the official exam dates as soon as they are set and reassures everyone that they are working hard to support students in their education journey.
