Former Machakos governor Alfred Mutua on Wednesday, 11 October issued statement as he prepares to assume his new role are the new cabinet secretary for tourism.
Mutua was transferred to the ministry of tourism in the latest changes that were made by President William Ruto in his cabinet.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday barely a week after he changes were announced, Mutua has revealed his readiness to pick up and deliver to the promises made by President Ruto’s administration.
“I am excited for this new assignment as the Minister of tourism and wildlife. I feel energized and I look forward to deliver the Kenya Kwanza agenda and improve the life of Kenyans.” He said.
The former county boss also congratulated her predecessor Peninha Malonza who she says has done well in the ministry as well as according him a warm welcome as he takes the new role. Mutua confirmed that he will be building on Malonza’s success.
“I congratulate my sister Peninah Malonza for the good job she has done in the ministry and the warm welcome she has accorded me.”
Mutua has confirmed that he is planning to hold meetings with different stakeholders in the ministry as a way of ensuring everything is put in place.
“I want to start from Monday, holding meetings with various boards and parastals and also various stakeholders. On Monday there will be a lunch for all the stakeholders to see how we will take this ministry forward.” He said.
“After that I will have individual meetings from different areas. I want to meet hoteliers, tour agents and wildlife conservationists.” He added.
The minister experienced challenge in pronouncing the term conservationists as he listed the people he is planning to meet in the coming days. He was assisted by journalist before they both broke into laughter.
“Kizungu ilikuja na meli.” Mutua said after he was assisted by journalist before he proceeded with his statement.
Mutua who was replaced as the cabinet secretary for Foreign affairs by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will take Peninha Malozna’s portfolio . Malonza will be in charge of Ministry of EAC, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (Asals) and Regional Development.
