Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has selected Elijah Obebo, the chair of the county public service board, to serve as his deputy following the impeachment of former governor Robert Monda.

The announcement was made by Kisii Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba during a session on Wednesday, March 20. However, Obebo’s nomination is subject to approval by the county assembly.

Reacting to the news, Ichuni Ward MCA Wycliff Siocha expressed his approval of Governor Arati’s decision, urging Obebo to focus on driving transformation within the county.

“Congratulations to Elijah Obebo on your appointment as the deputy governor, replacing Dr. Robert Monda. We appreciate Governor Simba Arati for upholding the principles of negotiated democracy, resulting in this appointment returning to Nyaribari. We have high expectations for the progress of Kisii County, and we hope that your expertise will enable you to serve our people and the governor effectively,” stated Siocha.

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
