The family of the late Kelvin Kiptum were today honored to be the ones representing the deceased who was being awarded a prestigious award. CS sports Ababu Namwamba was honored to be the one awarding the family on behalf of Kelvin Kiptum with Ksh 10 Million and inducting the late marathoner to the Talanta Hall of Fame.
The late Kelvin Kiptum became the first Kenyan to be awarded the prestigious award in his death. The marathoner will be remembered for his zeal in sports to a point of breaking the world record. As we speak, he is currently the record holder of World Marathon. He smashed Kipchoge’s record by clicking 2:00:36 and his star was still growing. Many hoped than Kiptum was going to be the first human to break the 2 hour barrier in the world of marathon.
Kiptum died after being involved in a Greeley road accident along Eldoret-Kaptagat road on 12 February 2024.
