Moha Graphix was recently interviewed by Mpasho. The man who became famous for pimping cars has been keeping a low profile for some time.
What has he been doing?
“I have been doing jua cali. Working on my cars. Besides Graffiti I also do photography but that is a passion. I am also training many students.”
Adding,
“There are also many other cars we are doing apart from matatus like limousines. We are making something creative from normal things. We transform a car from something normal to a piece of art.”
When had his breakthrough come about?
“In 2000 or 2001 I did a matatu called Ganja Farm that really gained me fame. This despite me having done many others before. At the time I was still a young man, now I am called mzee.”
How does he feel being called Mzee?
“I thank God that he has given me life so that I can teach others because my desire is for my students to become well-known through me. This year I want to open a small school where I can mentor, train people all about life, creativity and stress. Cause I also passed through hardship and it is something I have realised that I can help them with.”
What has changed over the years as far as the creative art industry goes?
“As technology changes, art changes. Things like the characters we use, the interiors we put in.”
What did Moha think was needed for a graffiti person to succeed?
“A person needs to have the drive. Drawing on a car needs drive and passion. You can be an artiste but you don’t have that passion. Also, don’t run for the money, look at the skills that you’re getting from what you’re doing.”
Did one need capital?
“A mistake I made was starting with no capital, something that came to bite me. In this business, the first capital is skill. When you’re good, you’ll get experience from working for other people before opening your own.”

Moha then admitted that despite pimping cars with some of the noisest speakers in Kenya, he doesn’t like noise anymore.
“I never go out. Si sana. I am just at work, then I go home. The only reason I am this event is because I was being honoured with an award.”
Is Moha married?
“I am and I have many kids. This work has helped me raise my kids.”
What advice would he give to his fans?
“Please pray to Good very much. Work hard, then pray again. Everything is God. God is the one who gave me these hands and that is what I use to work.”
How many cars does Moha have?
“One that I don’t use a lot as I am a biker. A Kawasaki 600cc and a Subaru.”
