"Kimeumana" Blow to President William Ruto as High Court Makes a Major Ruling. - Kenyans Living It

The High Court has ordered the government to compensate Nairobi homeowners who were driven out of their homes, which were allegedly built on land near a river. This is awful news for the government.

Justice Anne Mogeni made her decision on Monday. She stated that residents in Mathare, Gwa Kairu, Mukuru Kwa Ruben, and Kiamako who were evicted from their homes and did not find new housing should be compensated for their losses.

Despite the fact that the government was aware of the agreements, the judge deemed the evictions harsh.

This decision contradicts what President William Ruto and Deputy President Professor Abraham Kithure Kindiki stated when they visited the districts where homes were destroyed. They pledged not to let anyone build illegal homes near rivers.

This also brings back criticism from Gachagua about the cruel demolition orders that were given before he was in office.

People who lost their homes reported being homeless for months, despite Ruto’s pledge to locate them new places to live. They also stated that the Ksh10,000 in assistance they received was insufficient due to the poor state of the economy.

Ruto proposed that families live in affordable housing in Kibra, but the court’s ruling on compensation demonstrates that this plan is insufficient.

This decision will spark debate since it demonstrates that the administration failed to provide individuals with new places to live as promised.
