Kimani Mbugua Begs For Release From Rehab - Kenyans Living It

Former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua is pleading for his release from a medical facility where he has been undergoing treatment.

In a heartfelt video shared online, Mbugua urged an unnamed authority to allow him to leave, stating he feels fully recovered.

“Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask whoever is responsible for my release to please let me go. My mom and dad came here two months ago and told me it’s not up to them,” he said, explaining that he was cleared for discharge over a month ago.

“I was discharged on September 25, but I’m still being held here. I just want to go back to building my business. Please, whoever is responsible for my freedom, just give it to me. I did nothing wrong. I manage my illness as best as I can; sometimes I fail, sometimes I succeed.”

In a previous update on October 19, Mbugua expressed gratitude for the support and prayers he received from Kenyans as he pursued treatment. His improved appearance on TikTok brought relief to many, and he acknowledged the love shown by sharing, “Thank you so much for your prayers. God is great, and I thank Him for healing me once again. I’ve fallen apart many times, but He brings me back together each time. Nawapenda sana.”

He went on to say, “I’m well now. I’m not where I was four months ago. I can only thank God for making me whole again. I’ve broken apart over 15 times, but God always brings me back stronger. Ahsanteni sana na Mungu awabariki.”

For the past five years, Mbugua has struggled with bipolar disorder, a journey marked by several difficult episodes. Despite the challenges, he emphasized resilience: “The most important thing is to get up and dust yourself off. Even if you fail again, get up, dust yourself, and keep moving. As long as you live to fight another day, it’s not over yet.”
