Kenya Human Rights Commission ( KHRC) on 31st August evening resurfaced online with a bold statement following recent president William Ruto’s three options.

Speaking via their official twitter handle, the organisation claimed that Ruto’s remarks are alarming to kenyans as they seem to erode the constitutional rights and rule of law.

According to the statement, the government should respect the rule of law and human rights as it’s instituted in the constitution.

As a result, Ruto has been urged to operate with the law by championing for justice, equal protection and transparency.

“#Statement; President @WilliamsRuto’s recent statements raise alarms for Kenyans. Threats to ‘cartels’ and businesses erode constitutional rights and rule of law. We urge accountability and respect for human rights. Let’s uphold the promises made for justice, equal protection, and transparency”, the report intimates.

This comes barely two days after President William Ruto vowed to end sugar monopoly in the country saying cartels have only three options.

Among the three options include going to jail, being deported and going to heaven, a statement that sparked sharp reactions from Kenyans and leaders affiliated to Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition.

It should be noted that the lobby groups had demanded for an apology over what they termed as threats to human rights.

However yesterday he defended his remarks saying he won’t offer an apology. Ruto noted that fighting corruption is his main aim and no one will escape the axe.
