Nairobi businessman Khalif Kairo has finally broken his silence on his breakup with former Miss World Kenya, Maria Wavinya, confirming that their relationship ended in November last year.

Speaking during an interview on Y254 TV on Tuesday morning, February 11, Kairo admitted that their love story had come to an end, citing irreconcilable differences.

“We actually broke up with Maria in November last year. Both of us realized that this relationship is not working,” Kairo revealed.

“Maria is someone who wants to settle down and raise her family. I realized that the nature of my job is a conflict point, a theme that has repeated itself over the past 10 years,” the embattled businessman added.

The two were once Kenya’s ultimate power couple, traveling the world and showcasing their love on social media.

However, when Kairo’s legal troubles began, Maria was nowhere in sight, fueling speculation that she might have dumped him because he had become broke.

Kairo, however, dismissed these claims, making it clear that their separation had nothing to do with his legal and financial struggles. Instead, he took accountability for his past relationships, acknowledging that he may have been the problem.

“I sat down, put my ego aside, and I realized that all the women I have dated, I am the one who has a problem,” Kairo said.

He also came to the defense of Maria, insisting that she had been unfairly criticized by some Kenyans.

“I feel like Wavinya has been painted in bad light. She came to the station; in fact, she wanted to come to court, but I told her not to because this is my battle.”

Kairo’s love life has been anything but smooth. He was once briefly involved with beautiful digital content creator Cera Imani.
