Kenya is now set to begin the national rollout of the long-acting HIV prevention injection Lenacapavir.
Indeed, the country is set to start the process on Thursday, February 26th, 2026.
The move will help curb the spread of the disease and there is great hope of curbing the illness completely with time.
However, the medics have already sent warnings to people regarding the injection.
According to the report shared by Citizen TV on their social media walls, it is not everyone who will qualify for the jab.
The first qualification is that the person getting the jab must test negative and must not have been exposed to the virus in the last 72 hours before taking the jab.
However, not everyone who test negative might qualify for the jab.The medical experts have claimed that any client who want to get the jab must disclose any underlying condition to the doctors and also reveal any use of any medication they are currently using.
The medics have claimed that there might be potentially harmful drug interactions and therefore any client need to reveal any medical condition or any prescribed drugs including the drugs that enhance sexual performance.
However, the medical experts have affirmed to Kenyans that the correct use of the preventive injection is going to be 96% effective with only two injections in a year where each will be given after 6 months.
