Daniel Osieko, a respected biology teacher and church leader from Kericho, is recovering after surviving a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of nine people, including the matatu driver.
The harrowing incident occurred when a truck, which had lost control, crashed into the matatu Osieko was traveling in.
Osieko, who was seated between the driver and another passenger, described the moments of horror leading up to the crash.
The driver attempted to evade a large pothole, but lost control, resulting in a catastrophic collision. Osieko vividly recalls the driver being killed instantly upon impact with the steering wheel.
The sight of fellow passengers, some of whom were already dead and others who sustained severe injuries, left a deep emotional scar.
Despite the trauma, Osieko’s resilience shines through. He has begun sharing his story to raise awareness about road safety and the dire need for improved infrastructure.
His experience serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the urgent need for better road conditions to prevent such tragedies in the future.
