Christine Kimondo, a 23-year-old caregiver from Kiambu County, Kenya, has gained unexpected fame after her portrayal of First Lady Rachel Ruto in a humorous YouTube skit. The video, created by content creator Victor Naman and released two weeks ago, has amassed over 150,000 views, showcasing Kimondo’s uncanny resemblance to the First Lady.
In the skit, Naman humorously mimics Francis Atwoli, the Central Organisation for Trade Unions (COTU) chair, donning purple attire and imitating Atwoli’s mannerisms and speech. The skit unfolds with Naman’s character chasing after a woman portraying Charlene Ruto, daughter of the Kenyan Deputy President. As they reach a gate, Kimondo emerges as Rachel Ruto, questioning the commotion.
The dialogue in the skit humorously portrays Atwoli, played by Naman, making a case for himself as a suitor for Charlene. However, Rachel, portrayed by Kimondo, dismisses Atwoli’s advances, stating he’s too old for her daughter. The skit cleverly weaves humor with social commentary, resonating with audiences and sparking conversation online.
Kimondo revealed that Naman approached her to feature in the skit, despite her initial hesitation due to lack of acting experience. However, she took a leap of faith, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Kimondo expressed her surprise at discovering her acting abilities and expressed openness to further acting opportunities.
