A dramatic confrontation in Nairobi has ignited public outrage after a woman filmed a man she claims is a National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer damaging her vehicle following a collapsed business deal.
The incident, which took place in a residential parking area surrounded by apartment blocks, was captured on video and later shared online. In the footage, the man is seen approaching a parked saloon car before repeatedly kicking it, forcing open the boot, and tossing out personal items. He then appears to strike the vehicle’s body panels, leaving visible dents as the woman records from a distance.
Voices heard in the clip suggest a heated confrontation, with the woman protesting the damage and questioning his actions. The exchange points to a long-running dispute, with online claims indicating the disagreement arose after a business transaction went sour and one party felt cheated.
According to the woman’s account shared on social media, the man allegedly traced her to her residence and confronted her there, escalating the disagreement into property destruction. She further alleged that the man identified himself as an NIS officer, a claim that has not been independently verified.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the individual is affiliated with the intelligence agency, and no official statement has been released by NIS. Police have also not announced any arrests related to the incident.
The video spread rapidly across X and other platforms, drawing sharp reactions from Kenyans concerned about misuse of authority. Many users demanded investigations, arguing that no individual should intimidate or destroy property under the guise of state power. Others warned citizens to exercise caution in private dealings that blur into personal vendettas.
Legal analysts note that regardless of employment or status, vandalism and harassment remain criminal offences. However, they add that establishing the suspect’s identity and alleged official position would be critical if claims of abuse of power are to be pursued.
