The 24th Session of the Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN) at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) served as a powerful reflection on multilateralism and the role of youth in shaping the future of global cooperation.

Delivering the keynote address, former Kenyan Vice President Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka emphasized the significance of the United Nations as it approaches its 80th anniversary. Drawing from his experiences in government, he highlighted the challenges and triumphs of regional and international diplomacy, citing the revival of the East African Community (EAC) as a milestone in multilateral success.

Dr. Musyoka echoed UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ call for reforms, stressing the need for an inclusive, democratic, and responsive UN to address pressing global challenges like climate change, technological advancements, and security threats. He urged young leaders to actively engage in decision-making, emphasizing their role in shaping the next 80 years of international governance.

With distinguished guests including UNON Director-General Zainab Hawa Bungura and Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u in attendance, the session underscored the enduring relevance of multilateralism in securing global peace, development, and prosperity.
