Shortly after Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau, also known as Kate Actress, clarified her separation from renowned actor Philip Karanja, known as Director Phil, she has opened up about the impact of her ex-husband’s love for “jaba” (khat) on their intimate life.
In a recent statement, Kate Actress, known for her previous discretion regarding her personal life, reflected on her marriage, describing it as an ordeal.
The actress asserted that during their marriage, she felt deprived of her marital rights, with her ex-husband seemingly more focused on consuming “jaba.” She explained that when she addressed the issue with him, he would dismiss her concerns, urging her to be more serious in life and not focus solely on physical intimacy.
“I made every possible effort to endure in that marriage, but I reached a point where I couldn’t anymore. He had a brief performance, his job was to indulge in Hennessy and ‘murambe’ [a local Kenyan dish]. If I wanted any satisfaction, I had to resort to assisting myself, and that’s why I decided to end it,” stated Kate Actress in her released statement.
Following their separation, Kate Actress had previously mentioned in a media post that while their divorce was not a hidden matter, they had chosen to keep it private.
