Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza was on 18th October afternoon arrested days after interior cabinet secretary Kithuri Kindiki banned her okolea meetings.

However speaking, Mwangaza lamented blaming police officers for being used to settle political scores.

According to her, the program is aimed at lifting the less unfortunate in the society and therefore the government shouldn’t be stopping her from having the meetings.

“This initiative, funded by the County Government of Meru and approved by the County Assembly of Meru, aims to uplift the lives of the less fortunate. Unfortunately, law enforcement personnel were dispatched to interfere with the implementation of this program.”, She said.

“It is disheartening to witness needless curtailment of development efforts meant to benefit the vulnerable in our community,” she stated

Despite her arrest, the governor maintained that she would continue with the program given its benefits the residents.

Her statement comes off with an arrest order coming from the interior ministry where her program is linked to chaos that have been happening in the county.

It should be noted that Kawira Mwangaza is facing another fresh Impeachment from Meru members of the county assembly.

On the other side, Kenya Kwanza members of parliament have called on DCI to summon Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over Portland land saga.

Addressing the media, the defended the demolition of the apartments saying it’s in line with court’s order.
