Back in 2020, a video of Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho jamming to ‘Katerina’ which was posted on TikTok went viral causing a wide range of reactions.
Joho was singing to the now famous Bruce Melodie’s lyrics which goes like..
I wanna look at u baby kidogo katerina eih !
Say whatever u say she`s my new lover
I deserve her
What followed was what we can call ‘The Joho effect’ because the song became an overnight hit with many Kenyans running to streaming platforms to jam to it.
Today, the man behind the song, Bruce Melodie paid Kamene and Obinna a visit and he says ever since Joho helped push the song and despite being in Kenya before, the Rwandese sensation is yet to meet with the Mombasa city boss.
“I have never had a chance to meet the Governor but I would really love to meet him,” said Bruce.
Bruce who has been in the game for 10 years has worked with a number of Kenyan superstars including Khaligraph and recently performed with Arrow Bwoy at his ‘Focus’ album launch on Saturday.
“An album is coming… We are working on a new album and it will be dropping in May and we have worked with many from stars from different parts of Africa.”
Bruce dropped his new jam ‘Totally crazy’ featuring Harmonize and he says the collabo happened so fast after Konde Boy invited him to Tanzania.
The two ended up doing a number of tracks including shooting the video to ‘totally crazy’ all in a few days.
