Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu had a crowd in Kilifi bursting into laughter after she hilariously imitated President William Ruto’s style of naming roads and development projects. The outspoken senator, known for her humor and unfiltered remarks, took the stage during a public event and lightheartedly mimicked the president’s habit of listing roads and infrastructure projects during his speeches.
With a playful tone, Nyamu began calling out imaginary road names, mimicking Ruto’s delivery style. “Tumetengeneza hii barabara ya Mnarani-Kilifi, hii ya Mtondia-Mtwapa, na sasa tunamalizia hii ya Kijiji kwa Kijiji Expressway!” she joked, sending the audience into fits of laughter.
The crowd, including fellow politicians, could not contain their amusement as Nyamu continued her act, exaggerating the president’s energetic style of announcing development plans. She cheekily added, “Na tukimaliza hizo barabara, tutapanga pia za mbinguni!” (And once we finish those roads, we will even plan for the ones leading to heaven!), making the audience roar with laughter.
Despite the humor, her act subtly highlighted how infrastructure projects are often used as political campaign tools. Some in the crowd saw it as a lighthearted critique of leaders who frequently make grand announcements about roads and projects that take years to materialize.
President Ruto, who was present at the event, smiled at Nyamu’s playful jab but later emphasized that his government remained committed to delivering tangible development.
Nyamu’s comedic moment not only entertained but also showcased her ability to blend politics with humor, proving once again why she remains one of Kenya’s most talked-about politicians.
