Former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi could be making a grand return to the political scene after a long period of silence following his defeat in the 2022 General Election.
Speculation is now rife that the KANU chairman is strategically positioning himself for a comeback, possibly by reclaiming his former Senate seat in Baringo County.

The recent passing of his successor, the late William Cheptumo, has created a vacancy that could pave the way for a by-election.
Political observers believe that Moi, a seasoned politician and son of Kenyaâs second President, the late Daniel arap Moi, might use this opportunity to re-enter active politics and reassert his influence in Rift Valley.
Adding to the speculation, Gideon Moi has been making public appearances and engaging in political discussions, a sharp contrast to his quiet political life since 2022.

In a recent Facebook post on Friday, Moi who was in Nairobi, insisted on the importance of economic growth beyond taxation, calling for industrialization and value addition as key drivers of prosperity.
Moi, who supported Raila in the last general elections, was also joined by members of Kalonzo’s Wiper party. Also present at the event were Jubilee Party members.

âTaxation can only sustain a country, but cannot propel it to sustainable economic prosperity. As such, we must strive to industrialize, add value, and create wealth for our country and people,â Moi stated.
Kiraitu Murungi and his Mbus party were also present at the event.
His remarks came while attending the Peopleâs Dialogue Festival (PDF) at Uhuru Park, organized by the Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD), where KANU is actively participating.
The event serves as a platform for discussions on Kenyaâs political economy, and Moiâs presence at such a gathering has raised eyebrows among political analysts.

KANU, once a dominant political force, has been struggling to maintain its relevance in recent years. However, with Gideon Moi seemingly reactivating his political engagements, the party could be gearing up for a revival.
If Moi chooses to contest in the upcoming by-election, it could mark a turning point for his political career and the future of KANU.
All eyes are now on Gideon Moi to see whether he will officially throw his hat in the ring for the Baringo Senate seat. His next moves will be crucial in determining his political future and whether he can stage a successful comeback.
