Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) Secretary General Stephen Mutoro now says Wiper Kalonzo Musyoka has high chances of becoming the country’s sixth President in 2032.

Mutoro said he was certain that President William Ruto will be reelected in 2027, adding Kalonzo will succeed him particularly if endorsed by Azimio boss Raila Odinga.

“If my namesake Kalonzo Musyoka got Raila Odinga’s backing, in 2032, it will be a walkover. He will win by a landslide. There might even be no reason for him to waste money on campaigns. What I know, with certainty however, 2027 is a closed chapter in favour of President @WilliamsRuto,” he posted on X on Monday.

He made the remarks after Raila suggested he might shelve his presidential ambition and back Kalonzo to face Ruto in the next polls.

The Cofek boss said if the ODM leader pulls out of the race, quite a number of his supporters will throw their weight behind the incumbent.

“If Raila Odinga makes a mistake of not running in 2027 (which he can’t as long as he is alive), he will open up at least 40% of his loyal base support to Ruto,” he said.

Mutoro urged Raila and Kalonzo to join Ruto’s side to ensure their future in politics is bright and protect their parties from crumbling.

“Without Baba seeking presidency, ODM will become weak and disintegrated. He is better off in Ruto camp. In any case, Kalonzo’s foreign affairs docket is ready for him – anytime he makes up his mind to cross over,” the Cofek Sec Gen added.
