Former Mukurwe-Ini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando, who is now a prominent political analyst and a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza government, has recently made a significant statement regarding President Ruto’s choices that could impact the nation’s future.

Taking to Twitter to convey his thoughts, he directly addressed the President, expressing concerns about the misuse of power by some of his allies and the escalating ethnic tensions in a time of delicate political climate.

The former Member of Parliament, strongly condemned the actions of individuals associated with the President, who were allegedly misusing firearms(Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama) and promoting ethnic animosity. He also expressed alarm at reports that private homes of leaders were being threatened, stating that such behavior should never be tolerated in a democratic society.

Drawing a historical parallel, Kabando highlighted that Kenya is witnessing a dark period which happened last during President Moi’s regime. He urged President Ruto to carefully consider his options, emphasizing that the choices he makes could have profound consequences for the nation’s stability and unity.

According to Kabando, President Ruto’s first option is to put aside his ego and address the Finance Act of 2023, which has resulted in increased taxes and subsequently raised the cost of living for ordinary citizens. By reversing or amending this act, the President could demonstrate his commitment to the welfare of the people and ease the burden on their shoulders.

Alternatively, President Ruto’s second option, as stated by Kabando, is to continue down his chosen path, irrespective of public sentiment.

However, Kabando warned that if the President chooses this route, he should be prepared to face the consequences of the people’s disapproval, which might manifest in widespread demonstrations and opposition. These actions could potentially lead to the President’s downfall, as the public’s frustrations and grievances would demand a response.
