Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers in Juja successfully rescued a man who was being chased by a group of hyenas.

The incident took place near the Kilimambogo area, where the man encountered the wild animals during the night.

Responding swiftly to the distress call, the KWS officers arrived on the scene and intervened. One of the hyenas was shot dead to prevent further danger, while another was captured alive. The rest of the hyenas retreated into the nearby bush, ensuring the man’s safety.

According to KWS, hyena attacks in the region have increased recently, raising concerns among residents. The officers have urged the public to report any sightings of wild animals in residential areas immediately. They are also working to relocate the captured hyena to a secure location.

The rescued man, though shaken, was unharmed and thanked the officers for their quick response. KWS continues to monitor the area for potential wildlife threats as human-wildlife conflicts persist in some parts of Kenya.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of managing wildlife near human settlements and the importance of timely intervention by authorities to protect lives.
