The Jubilee Party has released a statement following reports that the party has parted ways with the Azimio La Umoja Coalition. Following the internal wrangles within the party, Kanini Kega’s faction released a press statement claiming that the Jubilee Party had withdrawn from Azimio.

According to Kanini Kega, he said that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Jubilee Party met on 6th June and resolved to withdraw from Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition.

“….Further take notice that pursuant to Article 33.1.1 & 2 of the party constitution as read together with Article 22.1 of the Deed of Agreement for Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition dated 12th March 2022, Jubilee Party hearby gives notice to withdraw from the Deed of Agreement for Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition,” Kanini Kega’s statement read.

The Jubilee Party through their official Facebook page has made clarification over Kanini Kega’s remarks. The Party has refuted claims of ditching Azimio camp arguing that the Party is in Azimio to stay.

The party has further urged Kanini Kega’s faction to walk away quietly into a party where they will feel comfortable.

“Jubilee Party is in Azimio to stay. We kindly request those who feel tired of this cause, to walk away quietly into a party where they will be more comfortable,” Jubilee Party statement read on Facebook.

This comes a time when Kanini Kega’s faction want to take over the Jubilee Party and kick out Uhuru’s faction with Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary General.

Kanini Kega had claimed to be the Party’s Secretary General while Sabina Chege assumed to be the Party leader, a position occupied by the former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kanini Kega’s faction had urged President Uhuru to retire and step down from associating with the affairs of the party and taking part in active politics.
