In a heartfelt Instagram post, singer Jovial revealed that she has reached a turning point in her life, declaring that she is no longer willing to play the role of a “good person” as it has become mentally and emotionally exhausting for her. According to Jovial, she has always been the giver, but seldom received anything in return.
“I’ve spent years trying to please others, forcing friendships, and seeking validation, but I’m putting an end to it now. It’s draining,” Jovial expressed. She particularly emphasized the toll this takes on artists who often pour their hearts out until they have nothing left.
Jovial also highlighted the frustrating reality that people may dislike or criticize you for daring to say “no” after always saying “yes” in the past. “They don’t genuinely like you; they only appreciate what you offer! They only need a little, and suddenly they’re nowhere to be found!” Jovial wrote.
She concluded by acknowledging the bittersweet nature of being a good person. Despite bringing happiness to others, it can feel like a curse when personal struggles go unnoticed. Jovial expressed her disappointment in the fact that people often recognize and appreciate your goodness only when you’re no longer around, reminiscing about how good you were in the past.
The realization that recognition and acknowledgment may come too late can be disheartening, as personal battles may have been endured along the way. Jovial bravely voiced her decision to prioritize her own well-being, marking a significant shift in her perspective and approach to life.
