The online fans are angry because journalist Stephen Letoo got married to one wife, contrary to rumors online that he would marry multiple wives.

The journalist tied the knot with his partner Irene Renoi Kiptikoi at a Methodist church in Narok County before heading to the Ole Ntimama Stadium.

One fan compared him to a loud student in class, many thinking he doesn’t study but waits to pass exams miraculously.

“Stephen Letoo’s wedding is like that student who makes noise and sleeps early but wakes up early to study. Then he leaves you snoring, but passes the exam. Do you think he was born smart or you just don’t use your brain?” the fan said.

“How many members of the Men’s Conference have wives?” he asked. Photos circulated online showing he legalized his marriage with one wife. Fans were surprised and asked why he married one wife despite portraying support for polygamous marriages.

At the Ole Ntimama Stadium, there were over 60,000 invited guests at the ceremony. Earlier, the journalist also had a traditional ceremony in Kilgoris to fulfill cultural obligations.

Historically, polygamous marriages are common in many cultures. The Old Testament in the Bible mentions many instances of polygamy. However, the New Testament, which various denominations use to validate marriages, rejects polygamous traditions and upholds monogamous marriage as the standard.
