Celebrated Kenyan journalist Maya Hakawa has announced that she has called it quits with the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC).

The sassy media personality infact revealed the big news via a post on her Instagram account, where she even disclosed that her next destination is something a bit different from her media career.

According to Maya Hakawa she is now joining the Bridge Kenya organization, which known for their low cost private schools in the country. Her new role will be the Director of Communications.

The mother of two was clearly over the moon as she shared the big news and even vowed to do all her best to ensure that she makes a lasting impact on her new role with regards to education matters.

“I am thrilled to share that I have joined Bridge Kenya at the Director of Communications, after a remarkable journey with the BBC. As a passionate advocate for education, I am eager to contribute my expertise in driving impactful communications for Kenya and Uganda…” Maya Hakawa wrote in part.

Checking through her Instagram bio, it is clear that the mother of two has edited it to confirm her departure. It now reads “Ex @bbcafrica Senior Presenter”.

The disclosure of the new job however elicited massive reactions from netizens and they flooded Maya Hakawa’s timeline with congratulatory messages because of the new job.

Maya Hakawa has actually left the BBC after working there for approximately 5 years.

During her time at the giant media house, she was a senior reporter known for hosting the show dubbed ‘Money Daily’.

The sassy media personality however joined BBC in 2018 and this was after calling it quits with the Mediamax Limited-owned station K24 TV.

Maya Hakawa had worked at K24 TV for three years before calling it quits, she joined the station in 2015.
