According to the statement, the competition will take place during this year’s Easter celebrations at the Kenya International Conference Centre (KICC).

“This Easter, the battle of the choirs is on. Winning choir gets Ksh2 million.

“Planning is in high gear, let’s celebrate the season in style. This Easter, KICC, plus food, fun, and games for the kids. Vibe of the City,” Sakaja hyped the upcoming event.

According to the Governor, registration details for the competition will be announced in due course to accord choirs ample time to prepare

His plan was, however, met with mixed reactions from residents in Nairobi. While others praised the idea, others castigated him for failing to attend to pressing matters.

Additionally, others called out the governor for overlooking development projects in the county including the installation of street lights, proper drainage systems, and adequate supply of water to all Nairobi residents.

“Why not take the Ksh2 million and celebrate Easter with street children,” one questioned.

On the other hand, others urged the governor to reconsider the prize money and include rewards for the second and third positions.

“Good move governor, but please consider Ksh5 million for the winner, KSh3 million for the first runner-up, and probably Ksh1 million for the 2nd runner-up,” another suggested.

While lauding the idea, others opined that the Governor should introduce an innovators competition to support creative minds in the county with limited funding adding that this will promote innovations in the country at large.
