Following an apparent suicide, the second body of a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture Technology student was discovered in her apartment in Juja, Kiambu County.
Irene Monica Mwangi, 26, a fourth-year student at the school of business computers, is believed to have hanged herself after failing to graduate, according to early results by officials.
At the Juja flat, her body was discovered in the door frame of her bathroom.
A piece of cloth that was discovered wrapped around the neck is undergoing forensic examination.
On June 28, other students who had completed their coursework graduated as this was taking place.
She had expressed her frustration at not graduating to her friends. On the day of the graduation, according to the police, they were called to the area and found the body.
In the room, a suicide note was discovered. The family was informed of its contents.
In another incident, Lenny Jessy Masiaga, a fourth-year student, was found hanged in his dorm on June 25 in Juja, Kiambu County.
Police in charge of the case have stated that they want to determine whether the student died by suicide or was killed.
The deceased was supposed to graduate on June 28 when the school hosts its 38th commencement ceremony, but his girlfriend informed authorities that he was distraught because he didn’t receive all the required marks.
The incidents are being looked into.
Police are looking into four further reported suicide incidents elsewhere. Godfrey Otieno Juma, 15, was found dead in a thicket in Ukwala, Siaya County, in the first incident.
He attended Kanyaudo Primary School and was in Standard Eight. It is believed that he ingested poison.
